Zahreen Ghaznavi is an attorney and former educator.
Ms. Ghaznavi has had an interest in education and youth advocacy from the beginning of her career, where she taught fifth grade at a Chicago charter school. From 2010 to 2011, she served as an Education Program Specialist in the U.S. Department of Education, managing federal school turnaround programs. A Yale scholar with a Master’s in political science, Ms. Ghaznavi holds a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where she was an editor for the university’s Human Rights Law Review. As an attorney, she started out her career as a general commercial and IP litigator at Kirkland & Ellis. She has also served as an outside counsel for start-up clients, advising on intellectual property litigation, privacy issues, and human resources concerns. More recently, Ms. Ghaznavi has served as in-house counsel at Success Academy Charter Schools and TIME Magazine. Ms. Ghaznavi is currently General Counsel at Newsweek.
