Dr. Michelle Barrera Triviño, Ed.D.

Middle School Director of Curriculum & Instruction

Dr. Michelle Barrera Triviño is a New York City educator, instructional leader, researcher, and equity advocate with 12 years of experience in education. She is committed to creating equitable, inclusive, and student-centered schools where both students and educators are empowered to grow.

Michelle holds a Master’s in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University, a Master’s in Education Policy and Leadership from American University, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from American University.

Her work spans classroom teaching, instructional coaching, educational research, and athletics, focusing on instructional excellence, teacher development, culturally responsive practice, student support, and educational equity. Michelle believes meaningful change happens when strong instruction is paired with trust, relationships, reflection, and systems that are designed to support people.

As a longtime volleyball coach, she brings the same values- teamwork, mentorship, accountability, and growth- to her leadership.

At the heart of Michelle’s work is a simple belief: education should expand what people believe is possible for themselves and for one another.
